09 / Roadmap

Built in public.

Dates are deliberately absent: none have been committed to.

  1. 01

    v0.1 · Spec draft (now)

    Core syntax, the ? type, abstain and match.

  2. 02

    v0.2 · Reference interpreter (next)

    dv run, dv check, and the browser playground.

  3. 03

    v0.3 · Grounds and citations (planned)

    Source tracking through every operation.

  4. 04

    v1.0 · Agents and evals (planned)

    Tool contracts, plus a benchmark for how often models abstain correctly.

06 / Runtime

Built on GraalVM Truffle.

DVLang is designed as a Truffle interpreter. The language stays small and readable; GraalVM supplies the compiler, the interop layer and the tooling.

jit

Compiled, not just interpreted. The Graal compiler partially evaluates the interpreter into optimized machine code for hot paths.

polyglot

Call Java, JS and Python. Use existing libraries from DVLang, or embed DVLang in a JVM service through the Polyglot API.

native

Fast startup with Native Image. The dv CLI is planned as a native binary so short scripts and agent tool calls start in milliseconds.

tooling

Debugger and profiler included. Truffle instrumentation gives breakpoints, profiling and coverage without custom tools.

Embedding (design)
Embed.javaproposal
try (Context ctx = Context.create("dv")) {
    Value r = ctx.eval("dv", "capital(\"Atlantis\")");
    if (r.getMember("abstained").asBoolean()) {
        escalate(r.getMember("reason").asString());
    }
}
